Doing it on your own -
A common misconception among sellers is that they feel that they can do as good a job - at a less expense - as a professional Realtor. There are many reasons why you should not go about selling your home without professional assistance. It's probably your most valuable asset and without that intermediary between you and your buyer, you lose most of your negotiation power. Furthermore, buyers expect to pay less for a home that's listed privately. This directly cuts into whatever savings you think you can earn by doing it alone. There are also issues with privacy and security that are often overlooked. You'll need to be the one taking phone calls and organizing to show your home, usually on your own. We have heard some awful stories about these precarious situations. We would never our own families in that jeopardizing position.
